Amazon Web Services released templates for building blockchain applications

27.04.2018

Amazon Web Services (AWS) introduced templates to create its own decentralized applications based on Etherium and Hyperledger Fabric, providing a quick and easy way to deploy secure blockchain libraries with open source. The company announced this on its website.

Blockchain technology allows you to create applications in which several parties can record transactions without the intermediation of a central authority that ensures the security of transactions and their verification. Transactions occur bidirectional, can’t be changed and are always verified independently.

AWS templates allow users to deploy Ethereum and Hyperledger models with AWS CloudFormation certified templates. Users can focus on building blockchain-based applications instead of spending time and energy on manually configuring their own blockchain. Etherium and Hyperledger Fabric offer distributed consensus algorithms, smart contracts functionality and managed access capabilities.

AWS templates deploy a blockchain model that the user selects as a container in the Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) cluster or directly through the EC2 on which the Docker is running. The user creates a blockchain network in his own Amazon VPC, which allows him to use the network access control lists and VPC subnets. The user can assign detailed permissions using AWS IAM to limit the list of resources that the Amazon EC2 or Amazon ECS cluster can access.

Users can visit the Getting Started page to start using the AWS Blockchain templates. No additional fee is charged for using templates. The user pays only for the AWS resources required to start his network of blockchain.

AWS cooperates with financial institutions and blockchain companies to stimulate innovation and support experimental solutions. In 2016, AWS announced a partnership with the Digital Currency Group as part of a platform development that will allow companies to experiment with blockchain technology.

More information about AWS templates is available on the AWS blog, on the AWS Blockchain template page, and in the AWS Blockchain template documentation.
