Australian stock market increases to monthly high

Australian stock market closed Tuesday trading with growth based on strengthening of the gold mining, producers of consumer goods and secondary goods and services sectors.

At the close on the Sydney Stock Exchange, S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.15%, reaching a monthly high.

The leaders of growth among the components of S&P/ASX 200 were the shares of Bega Cheese Ltd (AX: BGA), which rose 0.870 p. (13.57%) and closed at around 7.280. Quotes of Monadelphous Group Ltd (AX: MND) rose 0.650 p. (10.60%), ending trading at 6.780. Papers of Corp Trav F (AX: CTD) rose 0.750 p. (5.93%) to close at 13.400.

Leaders of falling were shares of Beach Energy Ltd (AX: BPT), the price of which has fallen by 0.050 p. (9.43%), ending the session at around 0.480. Shares of Duet Group (AX: DUE) rose 0.070 p. (2.98%) to close at 2.280, and the Ten Network Holdings (AX: TEN) have fallen in price by 0.005 p. (2.94%) and completed trades at around 0.170.

On the Sydney stock exchange the number of advancing securities (575) exceeded the number closed in red (384), and quotes of 138 shares remained virtually unchanged.

Shares of Bega Cheese Ltd (AX: BGA) and Corp Trav F (AX: CTD) rose to a historic high, up 13.57% and 5.93% respectively.

The Volatility Index S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which is based on indicators of options trading on S&P/ASX 200 rose 5.73% to reach 16.326.

Gold futures for February delivery added 0.46%, or 4.90, reaching $ 1073.20 per ounce. As for other commodities, the price of WTI crude oil for February delivery rose 0.37%, or 0.14, to $ 36.95 a barrel. Brent futures for February delivery rose 0.44%, or 0.16, to $ 36.70 a barrel.

Meanwhile, in the Forex market, AUD/USD rose 0.22% to 0.7266 and AUD/JPY rose 0.21%, reaching 87.47.

USD Index rose 0.00% to 98.00.
