On Wednesday, the last trading day of the month, Bitcoin continued its decline. The cryptocurrency records the largest monthly decline since December 2015 in percentage terms.

On the Bitfinex exchange, Bitcoin was trading at $10,215. During this month, Bitcoin has fallen in price by about 30%, which became the worst indicator since December 2015.

Ethereum – the second digital coin by market capitalization was trading on the Bitfinex at $1,092, and Ripple was fluctuating at $1.11.

On Tuesday, the sale of Bitcoin intensified after reports that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission sent summonses to the court for the Bitfinex and Tether crypto exchanges.

The company Tether produces USDT according to its US dollar reserves. However, Tether never provided any evidence of its claims.

In turn, Facebook said on Tuesday that it would ban ads related to cryptocurrencies, ICOs, and binary options.

The crypto space continues to fever after last week hackers stole digital coins worth $530 million from the Tokyo crypto exchange Coincheck. This is one of the biggest cryptocurrency thefts in history.

On Wednesday, Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said that companies that provide services related to the trade in cryptocurrencies are required to ensure the security of operations.

After the hack, the Financial Services Agency of Japan announced that it would check all the country's crypto exchanges and decided to eliminate the shortcomings of the work of the Coincheck exchange.

The current case has increased concerns about the security of operations with digital currencies, confirming regulatory authorities' warnings amid a sharp rise in crypto prices during the recent months.

Many countries try to limit cryptocurrency trading. For example, South Korean regulator came with new rules that prohibition anonymous bank accounts during crypto trading. The purpose of these measures is to prevent the use of digital currencies for money laundering and other illegal activities.
