The unemployment level in the 19 euro area countries in November 2016 remained at 9.8%, which is the lowest since July 2009, according to data of the Statistical Control of the European Union.

The experts also did not expect changes in the rate.

The EU unemployment rate decreased from 8.4% in October to 8.3% - its lowest level since February 2009.

In the 28 EU countries in November, there were 20.429 million unemployed, of whom 15.898 million were in the euro area.

Compared to the previous month, the number of unemployed fell 41000 in the EU and by 15000 in the euro area. Compared to November 2015, the unemployed has decreased by 1.552 million in the EU and by 972,000 in the eurozone.

Among the EU countries, the lowest unemployment figures recorded in November come from the Czech Republic (3.7%) and Germany (4.1%), while the highest come from Greece (23.1%) and Spain (19.2%).

Compared with November last year, the unemployment rate fell in 24 countries, and increased only in Estonia (from 6.3% to 7.4%), Cyprus (from 13.2% to 14.2%), Denmark (6, 1% to 6.5%) and Italy (from 11.5% to 11.9%).

The largest decline in annual terms was recorded in Croatia (from 15.7% to 11.4%).

For comparison, in November, the US unemployment rate was 4.6%.

Today, Italy also came with a full report on unemployment. In November 2016, the unemployment rate in Italy rose to 11.9% from 11.6% in October, according to the Italian statistical agency Istat.

The experts did not expect changes in the rate.

The number of unemployed in the past month increased by 1.9%, or 56,000, after declining in October by 0.6% and amounted to 3.089 million. In annual terms, the number of unemployed increased by 5.7%.

The employment rate (the ratio of the employed population to the total population of the subject of age) amounted to 57.3%. The number of employees has grown over the month by 0.1% - to 22,775,000 people.

In annual terms, the growth of employees was 0.9%.
