Faced with difficulties in Russia, Carlsberg has reserved $ 1.4 billion for costs

The brewing company - Carlsberg, having difficulties in Russia, has reserved $ 1.4 billion for impairment of assets and restructuring costs, and also will reduce 15 % of employees who are not engaged in the production, in an attempt to return to growth.

Most of the 10 billion Danish crowns ($ 1.44 billion) have been reserved in the third quarter, the company said.

Carlsberg waits a percentage decline in operating profit in single-digit numbers, although they previously predicted a growth.

The Danish company has long been experiencing difficulties in the markets of Russia and Ukraine, where it receives more than a quarter of its operating profit, but the company also announced the business restructuring in China and Britain.

The company costs in Russia are estimated at approximately 5 billion DKK, in China - about 4 billion crowns, and in Britain - about 600 million crowns.

In the fourth quarter, the company will reserve 1-1.5 billion krone with the impairment of assets and restructuring costs.

In the third quarter operating profit Carlsberg, excluding special balance items, amounted to 3.47 billion krone with the average forecast of analysts polled by Reuters at 3.19 billion.

However, given the reservation of funds, the company reported a loss of 4.6 billion crowns against a profit of 3.0 billion a year earlier.

Carlsberg will reduce production in Russia, but no longer plans to close factories, said the head of the brewer on Wednesday.

"We have developed a network all over the country. We are likely to reduce the size of some enterprises instead of closing the factories." - said Cees 't Hart.

The Danish company has long been experiencing difficulties in Russia, one of its major markets, where economic decline and the tightening of regulation led to a drop in sales and profits. This year, the company closed two breweries in the country.

$ 1 is equivalent with 6.9392 krone, also called Danish crowns.
