In Argentina, seven cryptocurrency ATMs will be installed at Christmas

24.12.2018

Athena Bitcoin Argentina will install seven cryptocurrency ATMs in Argentina before Christmas and plans to install even more devices next year. By the end of the year, the country will be ranked fourth in the number of cryptocurrency ATMs in Latin America.

Until 2018, Argentina had a rather bad situation in terms of the number of cryptocurrency ATMs — there were only two in the whole country. Both devices were in the capital of the country - Buenos Aires.

Since September, Athena Bitcoin Argentina has installed five new devices in areas of heavy foot traffic, such as shopping centers and Walmart stores. They are all in Buenos Aires, and the director of the company Santiago Molins (Santiago Molins) says that there are two more devices that are not yet displayed on the CoinATMRadar. He added that by the end of 2018, they will install another cryptographic machine in the nearby city of La Plata, and will continue to work in this direction in January.

Molins explained:

“The idea is to place another two or three devices in the first and second week of January. Now, we are installing cryptocurrency ATMs in and around Buenos Aires.”

Such a sharp increase in the number of cryptocurrency ATMs in the country cannot fail to impress. The reasons for this situation, however, are quite prosaic - Argentina is experiencing a similar financial crisis as Venezuela. Although the humanitarian situation is far from the economic upheavals of Venezuela, inflation in the country is nonetheless rampant. Local Bitcoins trade volumes have increased dramatically as citizens turn to cryptocurrencies to save their savings.

We can expect a further increase in the number of cryptocurrency ATMs over the next year, if the economic situation in the country does not change. In addition, a few days ago it was reported that Athena Bitcoin installed the 17th cryptocurrency ATMs in Colombia.

The number of cryptocurrency ATMs in the world is growing - in November it was reported that the number of these devices available around the world is approaching 4,000. Such growth can be considered quite impressive, since in May their number reached 3,000. In July it was reported that Malta was established the first two-way cryptographic on the island, and in June, a cryptograph appeared at Amsterdam airport to exchange euro for Bitcoin and Etherium.
