Renault sales rose over 10% YTD

In the first half of the year, the French automotive group Renault increased sales by 10.4%, while the global car market in January-June increased by 2.6%, the company said.

As a result, Renault's share in the global market increased by 0.3 percentage points compared to 2016, to 4.1%.

The group, including Renault and Dacia brands, set a new sales record for the half year. The Group sold 1.88 million vehicles, Renault brand – 1.342 million, and Dacia - 332.8 thousand cars. Sales of Renault Samsung Motors grew by 12.5%, and Lada sales rose 12.2%.

In Europe, the group's sales continued to grow faster than the market – by 5.6% while the market grew by 4.4%, and reached 1.025 million cars in the first half of the year.

In France, Renault brand demonstrated the best sales for the first half year in the segment of cars for the last 6 years.

Outside Europe, sales and market share grew in all regions. Sales of the group rose 16.8% amid market growth of 3.4%.

In the Africa-Middle East-India region, sales of the group increased by 19.3%, while the market share was 6.4% (+1.1 percentage points).

Sales in Iran grew by 100.3% and allowed to increase the market share by 4 percentage points, to 9.8%, thanks to the success of Tondar and Sandero.

In India, Renault is still the leading European automotive brand with a market share of 3.3%.

In North Africa, sales of the group increased by 10.1% amid a market decline of 8.3%. The group occupies 43% of the market (+7.2 pp).

Sales of the group in Eurasia rose 8.6% amid the market growth of 2.5%.

The Russian market for the first time in 4 years began to grow and for the first half increased by 6.9%. The Group increased its sales by 14% (including Lada). Sales of Lada grew almost two and a half times faster than the market - by 12.8%, and the market share was 19.5% (+1 pp) due to the success of the new Vesta and Xray models.

In the Asia-Pacific region, sales increased by 50.5% amid a 3.6% market growth.

In China, Renault sold about 36,000 cars (compared with 9,771 in the first half of 2016).

Renault Samsung Motors recorded sales growth of 12.5% ​​in South Korea, the market of which declined by 4.2%. The market share of the brand was 6.9% (+1 pp) due to the success of the recently released products (SM6 and QM6).

In America, sales increased by 14.6% amid a market growth of 8.3%.

Under forecasts of Renault, in 2017 the sales as a whole will grow by 1.5-2.5%, including in Europe – by 2%.

Shares of Renault rose in price by 1.9% on Monday. The company's capitalization is estimated at 24.67 billion euro.
