South Korean prosecutors today issued an arrest warrant of deputy chairman of the board of Samsung Group, Lee Jae-yong, on suspicion of his involvement in the corruption scandal surrounding President Park Geun-hye.

The arrest warrant must be approved by the court and the hearings on the case will be held on Wednesday.

South Korean prosecutors said the businessman is involved in the biggest-ever corruption scandal, in which the country's president has been declared the impeachment, reported BBC.

The investigation revealed that the President's girlfriend - Choi Sun Sil, who is currently under arrest, illegally forced big companies to make multi-million dollar donations to two associated non-governmental funds.

The largest of these "donors" was Samsung, which, according to the investigation, also conveyed directly Choi Sun Sil millions of dollars on training her daughter horse riding in Germany.

According to the newspaper The Wall Street Journal, Samsung leader is also accused of paying bribes, totaling 43 billion won (about $ 36 million), to a friend of the president.

Last Thursday, Lee Jae-yong was summoned to the prosecutor's office for interrogation, which eventually lasted 22 hours.

According to the investigation, it is Lee Jae-yong, who, though not a nominal head of all the Samsung Corporation, ordered to transfer Choi Sun Sil large sums of money in exchange for the protection.

Sam Lee Jae-yong earlier during parliamentary hearings totally rejected the accusations of illegal lobbying group and said that donations to non-governmental funds were made disinterestedly.

The South Korean media called Lee Jae-yong the "heir" of Samsung, as the official chairman of the Corporation is his father, who, because of serious health problems is actually already retired and is not shown in public.

In October last year, Lee Jae-yong joined the group's board of directors, and it was expected that in the near future he should fully take the reins of Samsung government in his own hands.
