The French stock market closed down; CAC 40 fell 1.72%

The French stock market closed Thursday trading falling on negative dynamics of the retail trade, raw materials and oil and gas sectors.

At the close of the Paris stock exchange, CAC 40 fell 1.72%, reaching a 3-month low, and SBF 120 index fell 1.70%.

The leaders of growth among the components of CAC 40 index were the shares of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA: LVMH), which fell 0.10 p. (0.07%) and closed at around 136.60. Quotes of Vivendi SA (PA: VIV) fell 0.04 p. (0.21%), to 19.06. Papers of Essilor International Compagnie Generale d`Optique SA (PA: ESSI) fell 0.30 p. (0.27%), closing at 111.85.

The worst performers were shares of ArcelorMittal SA (AS: ISPA), the price of which fell 0.21 p. (5.55%), to 3.49. Shares of Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA: SGOB) fell 1.64 p. (4.31%) to 36.45 and Technip (PA: TECF) dropped 1.53 p. (3.67%) and finished trading at around 40.13.

The best results among SBF 120 index showed the shares of Numericable Pr (PA: NUME), which rose 1.36% to reach 37.505, Ingenico Group (PA: INGC), which gained 0.67% to close at the level of 112.70, and shares of Iliad (PA: ILD), which rose 0.44%, ending the session at around 226.00.

Leaders of falling were shares of Vallourec SA (PA: VLLP), which fell in price by 7.53%, closing at 7.13. Shares of Ipsos (PA: ISOS) lost 6.78% and ended the session at 19.40. Quotes of DBV Technologies SA (PA: DBV) fell in price by 6.04% to reach 62.490.

At the Paris stock exchange the number of declining securities (645) exceeded the number closed up (107), and quotes of 37 shares remained virtually unchanged.

The Volatility Index CAC 40 VIX, which is based on indicators of options trading on CAC 40, rose 10.68% to reach 28.54.

Gold futures for February delivery added 1.47%, or 16.00, reaching $ 1107.90 per ounce. As for other commodities, the price of WTI crude oil for February delivery fell 1.65%, or 0.56, to $ 33.41 a barrel. Brent futures for February delivery fell 0.83%, or 0.29, to $ 33.95 a barrel.

Meanwhile EUR/USD rose 0.77% to 1.0861 and EUR/GBP rose 1.17%, reaching 0.7454.

USD Index fell 0.47% to 98.81.
