The US stock market closed higher; Dow Jones added 0.03%

The US stock market finished Monday session with growth due to the strengthening of oil and gas, technology and consumer goods sectors.

At the close on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones rose 0.03%, S & P 500 index was unchanged, and NASDAQ Composite index rose 0.03%.

In the growth leaders among the components of the Dow Jones index were the shares of Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL), which rose in price by 4.04 p. (2.71%), closing at 153.00. Quotes of Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM) increased by 0.87 points (1.06%), to 82.89, and Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) rose in price by 0.89 points (0.84%), closing at around 106.68.

The worst performers were he shares of EI du Pont de Nemours & Co (NYSE: DD), the price of which fell 0.88 p. (1.08%), finishing the session at around 80.26. Shares of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) fell 0.30 p. (0.81%), closing at 36.52, while Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS) declined by 1.84 p. (0.81%) and finished trading at around 225.03.

The leaders of S&P 500 index were Newell Brands Inc (NYSE: NWL), which rose 11.94% to 51.93, CenturyLink Inc (NYSE: CTL), which gained 5.08% to close at 24.80, and shares of Coach Inc (NYSE: COH), which rose 4.81% to 44.71.

The worst results came from the shares of Tyson Foods Inc (NYSE: TSN), which fell in price by 6.08%, to 59.48. The shares of LyondellBasell Industries NV (NYSE: LYB) lost 4.02% to 80.78 and Incyte Corporation (NASDAQ: INCY) fell in price by 3.77% to 117.79.

Best stocks of NASDAQ Composite index were the shares of Inpixon (NASDAQ: INPX), up 148.04% to 4.4400, Bridgford Foods Corporation (NASDAQ: BRID), up 32.74% to 16.50, and MannKind Corp (NASDAQ: MNKD), up 27.95%, to 1.020.

Worst performers were Amyris Inc (NASDAQ: AMRS), down 37.63%, to 0.336, Horizon Pharma PLC (NASDAQ: HZNP), down 35.04% to 10.12, and Terravia Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: TVIA) down 23.89% to 0.310.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of falling stocks (1747) exceeded the number of those that closed in positive territory (1440), while quotations of 43 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 1382 companies fell in price, 1148 grew, and 89 remained at the level of the previous close.
