The US stock market was down; Dow Jones fell 1.58%

The US stock market closed Monday trading with a decrease on negative dynamics of finance, health, and consumer services sectors.

At the close on the New York Stock Exchange, Dow Jones fell 1.58%, S&P 500 fell 1.53%, and NASDAQ Composite Index fell 2.08%.

The leaders of growth among the components of Dow Jones index were shares of Wal-Mart Stores Inc (N: WMT), which rose 0.16 p. (0.26%) and closed at around 61.46. Quotes of Apple Inc (O: AAPL) rose 0.09 p. (0.09%), getting to 105.35. Shares of Caterpillar Inc (N: CAT) rose 0.03 p. (0.04%), closing at 67.99.

Leaders of falling were shares of EI du Pont de Nemours and Company (N: DD), the price of which fell by 3.53 p. (5.30%), to 63.07. Shares of JPMorgan Chase & Co (N: JPM) fell 1.97 p. (3.00%) to 63.62, and Boeing Company (N: BA) fell in price by 4.09 p. (2.83%) to 140.50.

The best performers of S&P 500 were shares of Chesapeake Energy Corporation (N: CHK), which went up by 10.00% to reach 4.95, CONSOL Energy Inc (N: CNX) jumped 8.48 %, to close at 8.57, and shares of Southwestern Energy Company (N: SWN), rose 8.44%, to 7.71.

The worst performers were Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc (N: CMG), the shares of which fell in price by 6.47%, to 448.81, Fossil Group Inc (O: FOSL), which lost 6.07% to 34.34, and Amazon.com Inc (O: AMZN), which fell 5.76% to reach 636.98.

The NASDAQ Composite Index leaders were the shares of Rubicon Technology Inc (O: RBCN), up 51.75% to 1.73, China Advanced Construction Materials (O: CADC), which got 43, 14%, to 2.190, and shares of OptimumBank Holdings Inc (O: OPHC), which rose 43.18% to 0.530.

The falling leaders were KBS Fashion Group Ltd (O: KBSF), which fell 25.00% to 2.10. Perion Network Ltd (O: PERI) lost 17.36% to 3.00.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of declining securities (2314) exceeded the number closed up (1112), and quotes of 6 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock market, the papers of 2039 companies fell, 640 rose, and 23 quotes remained at the previous close.

The Volatility Index – CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on indicators of options trading on the S&P 500, rose 13.62% to 20.69.

USD Index rose 0.15% to 98.93.
