The US stock market was up

The US stock market closed Thursday trading higher due to the strengthening of the raw materials, technology and finance sectors.

At the close on the New York Stock Exchange, Dow Jones rose 0.73%, reaching a historic high, S & P 500 index rose 0.53%, and NASDAQ Composite Index rose 0.57%.

The leaders of growth among Dow Jones index components were the shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: GS), which rose 4.62 p. (2.93%), closing at 162.54. Quotes of Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) rose 1.92 p. (1.98%), ending trading at 98.79. The shares of Pfizer Inc (NYSE: PFE) rose 0.61 p. (1.68%), closing at 36.92.

The worst results came from the shares of UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE: UNH), the price of which fell 0.64 p. (0.45%), to 140.84. Shares of Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE: VZ) fell 0.16 p. (0.29%) to 55.84, and Coca-Cola Company (NYSE: KO) decreased in price by 0.05 p. (. 0.11%) and closed trading at around 45.69.

The leaders of growth among the components of S & P 500 were the shares of Williams Companies Inc (NYSE: WMB), which rose 6.16% to reach 23.60, MetLife Inc (NYSE: MET), which gained 4.69%, to close at 42.38, and shares of Lincoln National Corporation (NYSE: LNC), which rose 4.66%, ending the session at around 42.87.

Leaders of falling were the shares of NRG Energy Inc (NYSE: NRG), which fell in price by 3.47%, closing at 15.31. Shares of Southwestern Energy Company (NYSE: SWN) lost 3.51% and finished the session at 13.47. The quotes of Wynn Resorts Limited (NASDAQ: WYNN) decreased in price by 3.01% to reach 92.02.

The leaders of growth among NASDAQ Composite index were the shares of Ocean Power Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: OPTT), which rose 61.43% to reach 4.730, SkyPeople Fruit Juice Inc (NASDAQ: SPU), which jumped 55.44 %, to close at 4.5700, as well as shares of Forbes Energy Services Ltd (NASDAQ: FES), which increased by 42.10% and closed the session at around 0.2275.

Leaders of falling were the shares of Rennova Health Inc (NASDAQ: RNVA), which fell in price by 48.15% to 0.280, Cinedigm Corp (NASDAQ: CIDM), down 21.73% to 0.9001, and PrimeEnergy Corporation (NASDAQ: PNRG), down 20.98% to reach 48.01.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of advancing securities (1831) exceeded the number closed in the red (1460), and the quotes of 22 shares remained virtually unchanged.

Meanwhile, EUR/USD rose 0.25% to 1.1118, and USD/JPY rose 0.88%, reaching 105.42.

The USD index fell 0.26% to 96.11.
