US stock market closed down, Dow Jones fell 2.21%

The US stock market closed Wednesday trading falling amid negative dynamics from consumer services, health care and technology sectors.

At the close on the New York Stock Exchange, Dow Jones fell 2.21%, reaching a 3-month low, S&P 500 fell 2.50%, and NASDAQ Composite Index fell 3.41%.

The leaders of growth among the components Dow Jones were the shares of Exxon Mobil Corporation (N: XOM), which rose 0.41 p. (0.55%) to 75.61. Quotes of Coca-Cola Company (N: KO) fell 0.27 p. (0.64%), ending trading at 41.85. Shares of Procter & Gamble Company (N: PG) fell 0.66 p. (0.86%), closing at 75.85.

The worst results came from shares of Home Depot Inc (N: HD), down 6.09 p. (4.78%), to 121.40. Shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc (N: GS) fell 6.72 p. (4.06%) to close at 158.99, and EI du Pont de Nemours and Company (N: DD) decreased in price by 1.81 p. (3.09%) and closed trading at around 56.79.

The leaders of growth among the components S&P 500 were the shares of Southwestern Energy Company (N: SWN), which rose 8.59% to reach 6.45, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc (N: CMG), which gained 5.94%, to close at 428.28, as well as shares of Intuitive Surgical Inc (O: ISRG), which rose 3.26%, ending to  559.79.

Worst perfromers were shares of Williams Companies Inc (N: WMB), which fell in price by 17.78% to close at 13.60. Shares of Tesoro Corporation (N: TSO) lost 12.16% to 91.92 and quotes of Chesapeake Energy Corporation (N: CHK) fell 10.12% to reach 3.64.

The leaders of growth among the components of the NASDAQ Composite Index were the shares of Vestin Realty Mortgage II Inc (O: VRTB), which went up by 45.70% to reach 2.040, Helios and Matheson Analytics Inc (O: HMNY), which gained 28.39%, to close at 1.990, and shares Jaguar Animal Health Inc (O: JAGX), which increased by 25.14% and closed the session at around 4.38.

Leaders of falling were shares of Horsehead Holding Corp (O: ZINC), which fell in price by 52.22% to close at 0.66. Shares of Medigus Ltd (O: MDGS) lost 36.48% and closed the session at 1.95.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of declining securities (2977) exceeded the number closed up (433), and the price of 4 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock market, quotes of 2282 companies fell, 346 rose, and 46 remained at the previous close.

The Volatility Index – CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on indicators of options trading on S&P 500, rose 11.04% to reach 24.95.

USD Index fell 0.09% to 98.93.
