Users of the Brave desktop browser version are now able to participate in the Brave Ads program and earn BAT tokens on viewing ads.
Brave Browser was developed by former Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich and is designed to solve the problem of annoying ads. The browser also has a number of other interesting features that you can use by taking part in the Brave Ads campaign.
Users who decide to participate in the program will be able to receive 70% of the income from the advertising they view. The reward is paid in the tokens of the Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) project, which, among other things, can be sent to the creators of the content you like.
By default, donations in BAT tokens will be transferred to owners of sites that a user visits most often, but browser developers plan to add the ability to exchange tokens for awards, such as restaurant vouchers or hotel accommodations.
BAT tokens obtained for viewing advertisements can be cashed out via cryptocurrency exchanges such as Coinbase and Uphold, or exchanged for other digital currencies. It is also noted that participation in this campaign is not mandatory.
“There are people for whom the amount received is insignificant, so they do not withdraw money after they are received, but pay with the same tokens,” Eich said.
At the moment, only part of the functionality is available - publisher remuneration. Soon, the possibility of buying additional content and, probably, goods will be added. Users will be able to display tokens after the implementation of the identification system.
“If users abruptly began to withdraw BAT tokens on their own initiative, we would have been swindled for a huge amount in one evening,” Eich explained.
He also said that at the moment such companies as Vice, Home Chef, ConsenSys, Ternio BlockCard, MyCrypto and eToro are already interested in the partnership.
Brave's ICO browser was conducted in May 2017 and turned out to be quite successful - within a few minutes the project organizers collected $ 36 million. Now the capitalization of the BAT token is $ 542 million, according to CoinMarketCap.
Last April, the Brave browser team joined the Dow Jones Media Group to distribute content to browser users. It is noteworthy that the main product of the Dow Jones Media Group - the publication of The Wall Street Journal - did not participate in the transaction.
