Waves platform plans to move to Web 3.0

The site of the Waves platform, which last week went offline before a major update, resumed work. After the update took place, the main goal seems to be the transition to Web 3.0.

“The time has come to launch the next level of the network with smart, decentralized digital services that are based on blockchain technology and on new technologies created by Waves”, said platform general director Alexander Ivanov.

He noted that the concept of Web 3.0 is finally beginning to form into something real and combines many different technologies, for example, big data technology, artificial intelligence and the Internet of things. In this case, the very basis of the network will be decentralized.

It is interesting that, in the opinion of the head of the platform, it may never be possible to achieve full decentralization. However, at the same time, it is necessary to decentralize critical business processes and use centralized technologies where they cannot be avoided. Then it will turn out to create reliable and transparent Web 3.0 systems.

“It's time to use sophisticated cryptography, such as homomorphic encryption, and make it work. In the near future, I am sure we will also be able to use verifiable calculations, when data processing can be given to third-party companies and obtain verifiable results”, writes Ivanov.

He also stressed that it is necessary to continue to develop the decentralized level and solve the problem of scalability, which is fundamental to the blockchain technology.

Ivanov said that already in June, the main network of Waves will support RIDE smart contract language, which will provide a new approach to decentralized computing and business logic. With the help of the Waves-NG solution, users can “squeeze” the maximum speed out of transactions.

“The portal to our Web 3.0 will be the Waves Keeper wallet. It will store private keys on the side of users, while third-party people will not have access to important data. This will be a key feature of Web 3.0” , noted Ivanov.

He also said that the company is working on a decentralized voting platform.

Another project Waves is the creation of a social network that will focus on preserving privacy and tokenization. Its prototype should appear in the summer. However, one of the main projects of the Waves Platform is the Vostok solution, designed for corporate users.

“We no longer rely only on the blockchain, this technology is only part of the big picture. We become the first company that deals exclusively with monetized Web 3.0 applications. We want to be Google or Facebook of the future Internet”, Ivanov concluded.
